How conversion works

I

Pick the moment

Set a date and time in the source place, or leave it on the current time. The source can be any city or UTC.

II

Read every place

Each row shows the same instant on that place’s clock, its abbreviation, its offset from UTC, the difference from the source and whether it falls on the day before or after.

III

Swap the source

The arrows beside a place make it the source while keeping the same moment, so you can read the conversion either way.

IV

Clock changes included

Offsets come from IANA tzdata 2026e for the exact date. A time skipped when clocks go forward, or repeated when they go back, is explained and resolved.

Questions answered

Converting time zones

How do I convert a time from one time zone to another?

Choose the place the time belongs to, set the date and time, and read the result in each place below. The converter applies each zone’s own offset for that date, so a difference that changes with daylight saving is always right for the day you pick.

Why does the difference between two cities change during the year?

Places change their clocks on different dates, and many never change them. For example, London and New York are usually 5 hours apart, but for a few weeks in March and in October or November they are 4 hours apart because the US and Europe switch on different weekends.

What happens to a time that is skipped or repeated?

When clocks go forward, the hour in between does not exist; the converter shows the moment the clocks jumped past it. When clocks go back, an hour happens twice; the converter shows the first and offers the second.

Can I convert from UTC?

Yes. Choose “UTC” as the source. UTC never changes for daylight saving, which makes it the safest reference for logs, servers and international schedules.

Where do the time-zone rules come from?

From the IANA time-zone database (2026e), the source used by operating systems and browsers. Hourora ships its own copy, so results do not depend on how up to date your device is.
