Questions

Good to know

Which countries have the most public holidays in 2026?

Counting days of national public holidays in 2026: Iran 32 days, Nepal 32 days, Vatican City 29 days, Myanmar (Burma) 27 days, Azerbaijan 25 days. Countries differ in what they count: some include religious days that fall on Sundays, several days of one festival, or holidays moved to Mondays.

Where do the dates come from?

From the open-source python-holidays project (0.106, MIT licence), which follows each country’s laws and official calendars. Hourora built its tables from it on 13 October 2026 and shows the names as the source gives them, in the local language and in English, without machine translation.

Are regional holidays included?

Yes, on each country’s page, with the regions where they apply. This page and the meeting planner use nationwide public holidays only.

Why are some dates marked “estimated”?

Holidays that follow the Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist or other lunar calendars are often confirmed only shortly before, after the moon is sighted or the government announces them. Until then the source gives a calculated date, which can move by a day.
