Hours and minutes between two times, past midnight too, minus breaks. Or fill in a week and get the total in hours and in decimal.
Date (optional: counts a night when clocks change)
Add the date of the start to count a night when the clocks go forward or back at its real length.

How it works
How hours are calculated
The calculator subtracts the start time from the end time. If the end is earlier than the start, the shift runs past midnight and 24 hours are added, so 22:00 to 06:00 is 8 hours. Unpaid breaks are taken off, and the answer is shown in hours and minutes and in decimal hours (7 h 40 min is 7.67), which is what most payroll systems want.
The timesheet is a week of shifts, one row per day. Each row has a start, an end and a break; the rows are added up for the week, with an optional hourly rate to estimate pay. The week is only a layout: rows are not tied to calendar dates.
Nights when the clocks change
On the night clocks go forward, the hour between 02:00 and 03:00 never happens, so a night shift is an hour shorter than the clock suggests; on the night they go back, it is an hour longer. Give the date and a place and the calculator counts the real time from the time-zone database.

Worked examples
09:00 to 17:30, 30 min break: 8 h (8.00 decimal hours).
23:15 to 07:40, 45 min break: 7 h 40 min (7.67 decimal hours).
22:00 to 06:00: 8 h.
22:00 to 06:00 starting on the evening of 7 March 2026 in New York: 7 h, not the 8 h the clock suggests.
Questions
Good to know
How do I calculate hours worked between two times?
Subtract the start from the end and take off unpaid breaks. 09:00 to 17:30 with a 30-minute break is 8 hours. This calculator does it for you, and also gives the result in decimal hours.
How do I calculate a shift that passes midnight?
When the end time is earlier than the start time the calculator treats it as the next day, so 22:00 to 06:00 is 8 hours. Equal start and end times count as zero hours, not 24.
How do I convert hours and minutes to decimal hours?
Divide the minutes by 60 and add them to the hours: 7 hours 40 minutes is 7 + 40/60 = 7.67 hours. The result is rounded to two decimals; 15 minutes is 0.25, 30 minutes 0.5 and 45 minutes 0.75.
Does it count the night when the clocks change?
Yes, if you give the date and a place: the night clocks go forward is an hour shorter and the night they go back an hour longer. Without a date it uses plain clock arithmetic. The weekly timesheet always uses plain clock arithmetic.
