How it works

How the best time is found

For each city the calculator takes its working hours on its own calendar day, converts them to exact moments with the time-zone database, and keeps the stretches in which both are inside their hours. Because each city is converted separately, daylight saving changes move the overlap the right way, including the few weeks a year when only one of the two has changed its clocks.

Weekends follow local custom: Saturday and Sunday in most countries, Friday and Saturday in much of the Middle East and North Africa, Friday only in Iran and Afghanistan. Switch the option off to include weekends.

When there is no overlap

Some pairs, such as the United States and the Philippines, have no common working hours. The calculator then shows the next time both are at work, and the windows if both of you stretch to 07:00–22:00: early for one of you, late for the other. Agree such hours in advance and rotate the inconvenience.

Everything is calculated in your browser; nothing you type is sent or stored. The address of this page changes as you type so that you can copy it and share the same result.

Questions

Good to know

How do I find the best time to call across time zones?

Choose your city and theirs, set the working hours of each (09:00–18:00 by default), and read the overlap: the calculator shows it in both local times and marks it on a 24-hour band.

What if our working hours never overlap?

The calculator shows the next day on which they do and, when they never do, the windows if both of you stretch to 07:00–22:00. Choose a time that costs each side an early start or a late finish by turns.

Does it account for daylight saving time and weekends?

Yes. Each city's working hours are converted with its own clock rules for the chosen day, so the overlap shifts when only one side changes its clocks. Weekends are skipped by local custom; the option can be turned off.

Can I send the result to someone?

Yes: “Copy link to this result” copies a link with both cities, hours and day. Anyone who opens it sees the same overlap; nothing you enter is stored.
